FSI Personal
Professional Discipline
FSI has an expert team undertaking defence work on behalf of individual solicitors and firms.
Three fee earners specialise in this area, led by Ian Ryan, a Solicitor Advocate in both jurisdictions, who is also a member of the Solicitors Assistance Scheme and the editorial board of the Law Society's Legal Compliance Bulletin.
As specialists in solicitors' conduct we are well placed to advise on the new Code of Conduct, Outcome Focused Regulation, and entity based regulation, all of which will inform the SRA's approach to the regulation of solicitors and disciplinary proceedings in the future.
The team also represent members of the Chief Police Officers Staff Association and have advised and assisted a number of senior police officers in sensitive and high profile investigations.
We regularly advise on the following:-
-
SRA investigations including inspections, interviews with the SRA and representations to the Adjudicator.
-
Hearings at the SDT including advocacy
-
Appeals to the Administrative Court against SDT Findings
-
Representations against practising certificate conditions
-

-
Compliance with the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 including referral arrangements, disclosure of personal interests, commission retention and informed consent, and conflicts of interest.
-
