Tue, 27 Jul 2010
Daniel joins the team as a Consultant on 1 July and brings considerable expertise in Art and Cultural Property, having written/edited a number of books on art and law, including The Trials of Art. In addition to being a solicitor and author, Daniel is also a curator and producer (arranging large scale public art commissions). His client base includes numerous galleries, museums and other art market professionals.
Robert Lands, head of IP/Media commented: “we have been looking to expand and strengthen our offering in all aspects of Cultural Property. Daniel’s particular, and unique, commercial and legal experience fits in very well with our existing range of services in this area”.
FSI has advised on art law for the past 25 years. Daniel’s practice will dovetail into completing the offering to galleries and sales rooms. Daniel brings with him some interesting projects such as assisting Modern Art Oxford on permissions and copyright for the digitisation of their exhibition archive. Michael Stanley, Director of Modern Art Oxford, commented “Daniel has established himself as one of the leading voices and trusted authorities on contractual matters relating to contemporary art and the gallery sector. When inviting someone to advise on the complex copyright issues relating to Modern Art Oxford's archive, Daniel was the obvious choice.”
