Nicola Carter Trainee Solicitor

Nicola joined FSI in September 2010 as a trainee.
Nicola graduated with a degree in Law from Sheffield University in 2006. Following this she completed her LPC with Distinction in 2008 where she undertook electives in Advanced Commercial Property, Sales and Acquisitions and Family Law. Nicola also sat an ICM exam during this period for which she was awarded the top grade in the country.
Before joining FSI, Nicola was employed as a Legal Commercial Negotiator for a large brewery in Edinburgh until relocation to Newcastle in 2008. Whilst in the North East, Nicola worked for a national insolvency practice, where she predominantly handled Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations and large scale Administrations.
Nicola's first seat was in the Company Commercial department, where she assisted in several large scale transactions including the £60 million merger between Les Cars Rouges and Big Bus Tours and the acquisition of HPJ Retailing Ltd and Family Jewels Ltd by Gordon Brothers, the restructuring and investment firm.
Nicola's second seat is in Intellectual Property, Media and Family, where amongst other things, she will be assisting in the Julian Assange appeal.
In her third seat, Nicola sat in the Real Estate Department where she worked on a range of matters, including assisting with acquisitions of prime retail space for The Kooples as part of their continued roll out programme of stores in the UK and co-ordinating refranchising projects for Pizza Hut UK Limited.
Random fact
Nicola is a keen runner and completed the Great North Run for charity in 2009 in two hours. Nicola also enjoys travelling; her favourite experience to date was her journey along the Amalfi Coast in Italy on a scooter.
