After initially studying law, Howard embarked on a 10 year business career before qualifying and entering practice at the end of 1991. Spotting the potential of employment law as an important and emerging area of legal practice and after a brief period as a Company/Commercial lawyer he successfully started an employment law practice at his previous firm in 1993. After joining FSI as a partner in 1998 he started the firm's stand alone Employment Department in 1999.

Howard specialises in all aspects of non-contentious and contentious employment law including; terms and conditions of employment, service contracts, breach of contract and unfair dismissal claims, restrictive covenants and restraint of trade, maternity rights, discrimination and harassment - including sex, race, disability and age, employment procedures and policies, sale and purchase of businesses including operation of the TUPE regulations, handling redundancies including closures and relocation, health and safety, working time and contracts for independent contractors and consultants.

Howard has built up a wide-ranging clientele of employers, employees and the self-employed. His commercial experience has resulted in a problem solving and service orientated approach.

Recent work advising

  • alongside the property department, advising clients who are being forced to relocate from the Olympic Zone due to a compulsory purchase order. The clients are now facing mass redundancy and relocation costs as they begin to move their businesses

Random fact

Howard is a massive Arsenal fan and was born within spitting distance of the team's ground. He even has a personalised number plate for his car which incorporates the postcode of his birth and Arsenal's stadium - N7 HJG
