My secretary

Ian has a mixed practice involving serious fraud, regulatory investigations and professional discipline.

He specialises in advising corporate and individual clients under investigation by the Serious Fraud Office, Customs and Revenue, the Serious and Organised Crime Agency, the Financial Services Authority, and the Crown Prosecution Service and has acted in large money laundering cases, corruption cases, cases of insider dealing and market abuse and other serious fraud investigations.

In addition, he regularly advises solicitors and other professional and non-professional clients on restraint orders, confiscation proceedings, dawn raids, search and seizure, and production orders.  As a specialist in solicitor’s conduct, he can also advise on whether material is subject  to confidentiality and/or legal professional privilege.

Ian appears regularly as a defence advocate at the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal with considerable success and  advises solicitors under investigation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority at all stages of the process, including making representations against the imposition of practising certificate conditions, and advising whether those conditions should be appealed to the Administrative Court.  He also represents members of the Chief Police Officer’s Staff Association in internal disciplinary investigations and disciplinary proceedings.

With a background in serious crime at a well known London firm, Ian retains an interest in general crime, and is presently representing a number of clients on a private basis.

Ian is a Solicitor Advocate (Civil and Criminal Courts).  He is a member of the Association of  Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers; the London Criminal Courts Association; the Proceeds of Crime Lawyer’s Association; and the International Bar Association.

Ian Ryan has been appointed as an independent member of the FA's Agents Panel by the Football Regulation Authority.
